New motorway to be built for transit vehicles in Hungary
After a government decision last May and public procurement in November, the process of building a transitway which would not cross Budapest but allow connections to get into the capital has started. The project aims to quicken the traffic through the country and avoid traffic congestions.

Portfolio reported that 52% of trucks on Hungarian ways only pass the country to get to another country, but currently, drivers need to drive on three different motorways to get from one point to another. The newly-built transit motorway would allow them to get directly from one border to the other. Reaching the western and eastern regions of the country on a motorway is only possible by driving on M0 which goes through the southern part of Budapest in its suburbs and is always crowded with congestions.
The newly-built motorway also aims to ease the traffic on M0 and to allow transit vehicles to go on one roadway between the eastern and western regions of Hungary.
The project includes the building of a complete new motorway with connections to the others. The half-ring-shaped new roadway would allow transit drivers to reach every part of the country without changing motorways in the outskirts of Budapest. The agglomeration of the Hungarian capital could breathe again once the new motorway is built many kilometres away from the city as currently, there is incredibly heavy traffic on motorways close to the capital.
Currently, many renovation projects are in progress on many motorways in Hungary, especially on M0.
